River City Rower to Compete at World Championships

Congratulations to RCRC rower Sam Warren, who will be representing the United States in the women's quad event at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Briva-La-Gaillarde, Fance this August 5th through 8th. Sam qualified for the quad after winning the Junior World trials in the double event. This is the latest in a long string of rowing success for Sam this season including a gold medal at the Southwest Regional Championship and a silver medal at the National Championship, both in the single (1X) event. Sam joins recent alumnus Justin Hopkins on the list River City rowers who have represented the U.S. at the Junior World Championships. Justin rowed in the U.S. junior men's 8+ winning a bronze medal last summer before competing for the University of Washington. Sam will continue her rowing career at Columbia University next fall.
